SON FOLLOWS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FOUNDING FATHER AT LORIEN

Thirty-four years after his father helped set up the company, the son of one of Lorien Engineering Solutions’ founders has joined the firm.
Andy Cooper was part of the management team that established the Burton-based engineering and project management business in 1985.
Now his son, James Cooper has joined Lorien as a project management assistant.

James, who formerly worked in healthcare recruitment, will work on a range of multi-disciplinary capital projects, reporting to head of projects Phil Colquhoun.
Phil said: “Lorien has an expanding projects portfolio and our reputation rests on the successful delivery of capital projects which enable clients to achieve improved business performance. We recognise the critical factor in success is the performance of the team and we’re delighted to welcome James to the Lorien family.”
With a process engineering background, Andy started his career at Allied Breweries before being made redundant following a decision to outsource engineering requirements and focus on brewing. Together with a number of colleagues, he used his redundancy to set up a company subsequently acquired by Lorien plc, which was renamed Lorien Engineering Solutions.

Andy has worked in many of Lorien’s specialist areas, including Manufacturing Consultancy, Risk Analysis development, CDM advisor and currently as a Compliance Consultant., In addition, Andy is also now Quality Assurance Manager with Lorien..
Lorien specialises in capital projects for food, brewing, drinks, life sciences, biotech and safety compliance, and sustainability. It is a division of GP Strategies Corporation, a global engineering and technical services organisation headquartered in Maryland, USA.
