Lorien project engineer Lou Charpentier-Dusoir has been talking about her progress since winning a prestigious industry award.
Lou won the award for Graduate Learner of the Year at the ECITB’s Engineering Construction Industry Training and Development Awards in 2018.
Lou is one of nine graduate engineers who joined Lorien across its UK and Poland offices in 2017. Lou hails from Orleans in France and joined Lorien’s packaging department following a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Science in the Design of Rotating Machines.
The ECITB caught up with Lou for a video chat, where she discussed winning the award and the positive impact it had on her career.
Lou said: “The title hasn’t changed much but the content of the work has. I have been promoted from graduate engineer to project engineer.
“I was pushing to be involved in more things and gain more responsibilities. I have grown in confidence. The more projects I do, the more things I see.”
Lorien also received a commendation in the SME of the Year category at the 2018 awards in recognition of its overall approach and commitment to training and development.
Chris Bullock, engineering director at Lorien, said: “We’re enormously proud of this fantastic achievement by one of our young superstars! Our graduate scheme and the development of all participating engineers has been, and continues to be, exemplary.”
