Congratulations to Rhodri Morgan and Martin Chung having passed their FS Eng SIS courses with TUV Rheinland (EFSTAS) and are now certified ‘Functional Safety Engineers for Safety Instrumented Systems’. This will help clients to meet the functional safety requirements for Safety Instrumented Systems in the Process Industry for risk management and process operability requirements.
The training course and qualification is predominantly based around the application of IEC 61511 for established requirements for design and managing SIS’s to achieve specified risk analysis to determine the specified safety integrated levels (SIL), which are related to order of magnitude ranges of risk reduction. Performance verification of safety instrumented functions is demonstrated using calculation techniques to determine the probability of failure on demand and spurious trip rate and using key performance indicators for feedback from field operations.
