Company Overview
Lorien Engineering Solutions provide a specialist engineering design and project management service to the brewing, drinks, food, pharmaceutical and environmental sectors of industry, from the provision of feasibility studies through to plant commissioning and handover to client. The company is based in the UK ( Lichfield, England) and employs around 70 staff. The company has also established a new office in Poland (sales office and engineering facility) located in Wrocław to support projects in Poland and CEE (currently employing 10 staff).
We have recently been appointed as 'Process Engineering Partner' for a prestigious new confectionary production facility being built in Poland (near Wrocław).
As a consequence of this work we require to fill a number of engineering positions. The roles will have to be fluent in English, show an ability to work as an effective member of a multi-disciplined project team.

Summary of Roles
Senior Site Engineer for Large Confectionary Project - Process or Mechanical engineer with some site installation and commissioning experience. Fixed term contract starting January or February 2010 and lasting until end of August 2010. Obviously we have the possibility to make this a permanent staff contract at the end of this initial period.
Project Site Engineer for Large Confectionary Project - Process or Mechanical engineer with some site installation and commissioning experience. Fixed term contract starting January 2010 and lasting until end of June 2010. Obviously we have the possibility to make this a permanent staff contract at the end of this initial period.
Project Design Engineer for Wrocław office - Process engineer (this is primarily a design engineer's position but site installation and commissioning experience would be useful). Permanent staff contract starting February 2010.
SITE ENGINEERS (2 roles)
The Site Engineers/ Process Mechanical shall be responsible for the effective management of Process Plant site installation works, such that all of the works is carried out safely, within programme and budget.
They will require a suitable engineering background preferably with respect to hygienic process mechanical plant, associated pipework systems, have some experience of being, or desire to work as, a Site Engineer.
They should be able to motivate others and be able to take an effective but positive approach to the implementation of site works.
The main duties shall include but not be limited to the following:
Supplier/ Installation Contractor management
Liaison/ Co-ordination with Building "build" activitiesSite Planning/ Installation programmes
Health & Safety
Resolution of Technical Issues
Development & implementation of Test & Commissioning activities
Site Team Management
Reporting
Attendance at Meetings
Documentation Control
DESIGN ENGINEER (1 Role)
The primary objective of the role is the development of commercially focused engineering solutions to meet with our Clients' process requirements, with responsibility for project delivery from initial conception through to final handover. The role requires the production of engineering specifications including: Block flow diagrams, flowsheets, P&IDs, data sheets & schedules, layouts & associated drawings, and scope of work documents, incorporating measurable performance requirements. In addition the role requires the successful management of supplier/ contractor designs & manufacturing activities, works inspections/ factory acceptance tests, and technical support of site works.
A professional approach with a commitment to project delivery within cost, time, quality, safety and legislative parameters is required.
Key Skills/Experience Required
Ideally you will be qualified in mechanical, process, or chemical engineering with interest in achieving professional engineer status.
Have significant experience in process design, project management and commissioning, gained either with a project management company or with a manufacturing organisation in hygienic or food/drink processing industries. A flexible attitude to working hours and mobility to travel to site is a pre-requisite for this dynamic opportunity.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR RECRUITERS
A strong candidate will have the following experience/attitude:
Sector Experience - experience of working in the production side of our core sectors (food, drinks, brewing, pharmaceuticals, healthcare products, etc). This experience can be acquired through working in these sectors (for a manufacturing company) or through supplying services or equipment to these sectors.
Service Provision Experience - experience of providing engineering services, advisory services or consultancy services. A candidate who has worked only for a production company will not necessary have acquired this experience.
Business Development Contacts - a strong candidate would have something to contribute to the development of the new business in Poland/Central Europe. This could be; contacts in our chosen sectors, extensive knowledge of suppliers in our chosen sectors, some specialist knowledge that could provide a consulting income stream in its own right, experience in Polish commercial practice / contracts, or specialist sector knowledge (brewing specialist, pharmaceutical specialist, etc).
Attitudes - The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a small/medium sized company environment, will be a self-manager, will be pro-active in managing their own professional development, will have a commercial outlook, and finally will have an eye for detail and understand the importance of quality.
