National Trust Case Studies

Packwood House, West Midlands

Commissioned in 2011, Lorien worked closely with the National Trust to install a water source heat pump at Packwood House in the West Midlands. We undertook the project from initial feasibility though to detail design, procurement and implementation including overall project management and CDM-C

Calke Abbey, East Midlands

Completed in 2011, the new Biomass Heating System at Calke serves a number of key buildings ranging from staff properties, offices, shop and restaurant areas to the now heated Riding School.  The Riding School was previously used sparingly for functions, but with new underfloor heating is in use all year round.

Hughenden Manor, Thames and Solent

The new energy centre at Hughenden takes advantage of the site geography, with a new fuel bunker being filled from an existing higher level car park.  An old Apple Store has been brought back into use housing the biomass plant.

Sudbury Hall, East Staffordshire

Sudbury was one of Lorien's first biomass projects for the National Trust, with the installation of two wood pellet boilers and fuel store to the Hall's basement.  We followed through from initial options and feasibility to detail design, procurement along with acting as principal contractor, CDM-C, contract administrator and overall project managers.
