Ready, Set, Accredited !

Engineering consultancy set to address industry skills shortage following fast track accreditation.

Lorien Engineering Solutions, the Burton based engineering design and project management specialist, has achieved accreditation from the Institute of Chemical Engineers in only a matter of weeks.

The business launched its graduate scheme in October, welcoming three engineers to its ranks, and just four months later, has achieved IChemE Accredited Company Training Scheme (ACTS) status.

Lorien’s scheme coordinator, Alex Walker, said: “This is a significant achievement for the business, particularly given the short timescale. It not only recognises our commitment to investing in the next generation of engineers, it also enables us to develop both our graduates and established process engineers, offering them a career path resulting in achieving Chartered Engineer status.

The graduate training scheme is part of the firm’s wider professional development programme, which allows its qualified process engineers to access IChemE’s support structures, mentoring and training courses.

Alex Walker concluded: “Accreditation from the Institute of Chemical Engineers emphasises our commitment to both high quality graduates and more experienced candidates, and in the long run it will play a key role in achieving ongoing company growth, all of which is vital in a sector faced with skills shortages.”

Lorien Engineering specialises in capital projects for food, brewing, drinks, life sciences, biotech and safety compliance, and sustainability. It is a division of GP Strategies Ltd., part of a global engineering & technical services organisation.
