Burton Mail interview - relocation of UK office for Lorien Engineering

The new UK office in Burton-on-Trent recently hosted a visit from the local newspaper, The Burton Mail, for a story to be published in the paper's new 'Good For Business' section.  See the interview below, and the printed article on our news clippings page.

Burton Mail, 9th February 2011:

'An engineering design and project management company has returned to its roots in Burton.  Lorien Engineering Solutions was formed in Burton a quarter of a century ago in 1985 as Integrated Engineering Projects Limited (IEP) before moving to Lichfield in 1992. The company has just moved to its new premises at Centrum 100 Business Park, Burton.

Traditionally associated with brewing the company, which remains very much at the centre of this world, designs and delivers manufacturing investment projects also within the food industry, drinks and life sciences sectors. Other specialism's include sustainable energy and waste, machinery compliance and construction health and safety.

The 60-strong team is led by four directors: managing director Steve Slater, operations director Bill Treddenick, engineering director Steve Turner and projects director Roy Klek who said that the refurbishment of the office had created an excellent working environment.

Lorien relocated to Burton for many reasons, one being the town's excellent road, rail and airport links to the rest of the UK and internationally. "We have many client visitors and Burton was the ideal location to relocate to. It's only eight miles from our former offices and being situated on the A38 corridor makes for easy access for visitors and staff," said Mr Treddenick.

"Good travel connections are important to us as we both globally source production equipment, and we operate in many different locations. Around half of our business is international, something which has increased over recent years, and in 2009 we opened a branch office in southern Poland at Wroc?aw. Having two excellent airports close by greatly assists us to operate internationally."

Many of Lorien's clients are household names including Burton-based companies Unilever, Kerry Foods and brewing-giant Molson Coors.  "Coming back to our roots in Burton has proved to be a good move. We are delighted with our new headquarters and that the relocation went so smoothly" said Mr Slater.  The company is also a member of the Staffordshire Business & Environmental Network (SBEN).

Lorien has relocated each of their UK offices over the past 3 years, and the Burton office obviously provides an excellent shop window for the business. "A friendly and professional culture has remained with the business from our early brewing days right through to today. Our people lead innovation within our industrial sectors - something which we are extremely proud of" added Mr Slater.

Lorien Engineering Solutions is part of the Lorien Limited group which has offices in Leeds, London, Manchester and Edinburgh.'
