Lorien builds on Poland investment

A Midlands based engineering design and project management specialist is strengthening its presence in Poland with the appointment of two key recruits to its recently-launched office in the country.

Lorien Engineering Polska, the first overseas office of Lichfield based Lorien Engineering Solutions, is bolstering its growth in Eastern Europe with the appointment of project manager Piotr Muszalski and business development manager Artur Antoniuk.

The branch office, based in Wroclaw in the south west of Poland, opened in July 2009 and followed a period of outstanding growth for Lorien, particularly in its international work.

In 2005/06, less than five per cent of business came from non-UK sources; in 2008/09, the figure rocketed to 40 per cent. Lorien's project managers have worked throughout Eastern and Western Europe and Russia on a range of brewing, food and pharmaceutical projects.

Andrew Mieleniewski, General Manager Poland, is overseeing the development of Lorien's Wroclaw office, and welcomed Piotr and Artur to the firm: "We are delighted to be able to build upon our professional team in Poland, and I'm sure their broad experience will play a key role in developing our existing presence in Poland's food, brewing and pharmaceutical sectors, and subsequently building links with other key industries."

Lorien provides engineering and project management services to the brewing, drinks, food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.  The company is also involved in sustainable energy and safety compliance.

Piotr is an environmental and chemical engineer with 21 years' senior-level experience and joins Lorien from IEG-NAPIER REID, an engineering company based in Szczecin providing solutions for water and wastewater treatment.

He has also worked for the National Research Council of Canada at its Institute for Environmental Technology, and has an MASc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Ottawa.

Artur Antoniuk is a sales and commercial professional experienced in the pharmaceutical and dairy sectors and joins Lorien from dairy production specialist Lacpol. He has previously worked for Applera, Becton Dickinson and Merck.
