Health & Safety Consultant
Lorien Engineering Solutions require a Health and Safety Consultant to supplement the existing team, to both lead the further development of the company’s safety management system and to share responsibility for the CDM Coordination elements of projects across our sectors. Both Managing Contract and Principal Contractor assignments are undertaken, and we often take projects from concept study stage through to on-site project execution.
Summary Role
Personal Development
In addition to acting as CDM Coordinator for client projects (others in the department share this work) and facilitating design safety reviews, and providing advice to clients, the candidate will lead the development and maintenance of the Safety Management System for Lorien Engineering Solutions, and of the parent company, Lorien Limited. The role also includes;
- Carrying our audits of construction sites, and reporting to client, Lorien management and local site management
- Carrying out audits of Lorien group premises (offices) to ensure H&S compliance, reporting to group management
- Undertake accident investigations
- Providing mentorship for site construction managers (this will include occasional site H&S management work)
- Provide internal education sessions and H&S advice to Lorien staff
Principal Accountabilities
The main accountabilities are in the effective delivery of CDM Coordination services to clients, and in the safety performance of Lorien construction sites and Lorien Limited group offices. Other accountabilities include;
- Fee revenues from CDM Coordinator and general safety assignments with clients
- Maintenance of Lorien safety accreditations and H&S systems
- H&S mentorship and education of staff
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined engineering design and project management team
- Client relationships: develop good working relationships and add value to Lorien's services

Qualifications
Ideally degree educated in an engineering discipline, although candidates with HNC or above and relevant experience will also be considered. Other qualification requirements are:

- NEBOSH Construction Certificate required
- MIOSH is required (CMIOSH is preferred)
- RMaPS - Registered CDM Coordinator with the Association for Project Safety is required
Travel
Although the majority of our work is based in the UK, an increasing amount is delivered internationally. Our UK engineering office supports an office in Wrocław, Poland which serves the CEE area. The ability to travel at relatively short notice is critical, and a flexible attitude to working hours and mobility is a pre-requisite for this dynamic opportunity.
